Fire symbolizes the process of forging our lives into the swords wielded by heroes.

Though reasonably safe, flamewalking requires bravery, as the participant will literally walk through flames.  The fear which must be overcome symbolizes the first stage of human consciousness.  The bravery shown in overcoming this fear while flamewalking symbolizes the courage needed to commit one's life to the principles of Areté.

Those who are 12 years of age or older may ask to participate and signify their official membership as Heroes in The Assemblage of Areté.
